Miata Gear was started in Honolulu, Hawaii by Amy Hisaoka in 2017. She started selling a few Miata related items to friends in her Miata Club in Hawaii and then opened an Etsy store. As more Miata people started requesting custom items, the product line increased. Now there are over 100 different products on Miata Gear! Amy has since moved the operation to Oregon, where she now leases a small warehouse to hold all the machinery to make each and every product. She enjoys making the items herself instead of mass producing them elsewhere. Miata Gear uses local suppliers whenever possible and strives for the highest quality.
Amy has been a Miata enthusiast since she go her driver's permit at 16. Once she was able to drive a friend's Miata, and she was hooked. At 20, she was able to get her first Miata and became involved in Autocross racing. She is now on her 4th Miata, a 1993 Limited Edition.
In May, 2022, Amy Acquired another small business, Car Pin Collection, from Joel Naftelberg when he lost his long battle with cancer. Car Pin Collection specializes in enamel pins and keychains of popular cult-following cars.
Miata Gear can be found in person in Eugene, Oregon and every August at Miatas at the Gap in Fontana Village, North Carolina.
